Bruce Springsteen has a new album coming out in January, which is pretty impressive, since it seems like his last album didn’t even come out too long ago (it’s been a little over a year, I guess). Apparently most of the material will be leftovers from 2007′s Magic sessions, plus a couple bonus tracks – a song he released through his website for free on Halloween, about the Jersey Devil, and the title song he wrote for Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler (the film will have its wide release right around when the album’s coming out — nice cross-promotion). Also, it’s probably not a coincidence that Bruce is playing the Superbowl right around that time, either.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to it. I was one of seemingly few people who really thought Magic was great, and I’m not even that much of a Springsteen purist (I do think he’s great, but he and Dylan have a lot of die-hards who know every song, every demo, every lyric - and that’s just not me). It’s also refreshing that it’s another album with the E-Street Band, since he hadn’t recorded with them for a few years until Magic. I’m not sure if this is all old sessions from last year, or if they went back and re-recorded them, but I’m sure it’ll be a good record.
